Angus Forbes, born in 1996 in North Yorkshire, is a visual artist. He is currently creating work from his home in Lincoln.

His practice originally stemmed solely from a painting background and now incorporates elements of installation, projection, video, and sound. These elements of his work were realised during his time at university and whilst he would describe his practice as multidisciplinary, it remains heavily weighted towards abstract and semi-abstract painting.

Angus’ paintings are interpretative rather than representative. Often used as a catalyst for the expressive marks he makes, he subconsciously combines inspiration from his immediate surroundings and fleeting memories from his upbringing to create dramatic abstract compositions.

Another key component to Angus’ work is exploration. This has often been an exploration of socio-political issues to gain better understanding or to critique. But, more recently, explorations of colour, textures, memories and his surroundings have been the main driving force in his work in all its forms.
